Professionals Set New Records Raising Money for Austin Non-Profit
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 12, 2010 -- Austin, Texas -- Meeting Professionals International Texas Hill Country Chapter (MPI-THCC) set a new record in raising $8,000 benefiting Austin’s Sammy’s House on Thursday, March 4th by hosting a first time bowling fundraiser known as “Strikes for Tikes”. Sammy’s House is a non-profit organization that provides services for children who are medically fragile and/or developmentally delayed. Sammy’s House operates a child development center, a respite care program and a therapy equipment loaning program.
Corporate teams and adult spectators were encouraged to participate in a bowling event which led to raising more than $8,000 for Sammy’s House from this single event. At this year’s event nearly 100 people participated. Participation varied, including Super Shuttle Austin, Austin Convention Center, several local hotel properties and the Austin Rotary Club
The event was not all about collecting donations; MPI-THCC also gave away more than 22 door prizes for those participating in the event. All door prizes were donated by local-area businesses that wanted to help with raising money without having to contribute additional cash.
Sammy’s House is a child-care facility that provides a caring and loving environment where children can safely grow and learn to the best of their abilities. In just two years, MPI-THCC has successfully raised more than $14,500 for Sammy’s House. This amount is nearly 5 times as much as Sammy’s House has ever raised on their own.
MPI THCC is an affiliate chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI), the world’s largest association for the $102.3 billion meeting and event industry. MPI is committed to positioning meetings and events as a key strategic component of an organization's success. The 375-member Texas Hill Country Chapter (THCC) empowers its members to increase their strategic value with education, professional development and business growth opportunities.
